"The water in a vessel is sparkling; the water in the sea is dark. The small truth has words which are clear; the great truth has great silence."
-Rabindranath Tagore
When water is taken in small amounts, it looks clear. When in vast amounts, it looks dark. The ocean is vast. The ocean looks dark. But when you take a bucket when you are down at the beach and you dip it into the ocean, the water you will get looks clear. Small truths make things clear, but big truths silence things up. A small-ish lie with a small-ish truth will simply clear things up and show what actually happened. But big lies, long lasting lies, lies that consist of secrets that have been kept for long periods of time are the ones that, when finally revealed, bring a great silence. These big lies can get so big that people begin taking sides. When the truth comes out, all that is left behind is silence. For the moment, anyway. Later, people will probably get angry. But don't lie, at least tell the truth quickly after the fact. The longer it lasts, the worse it gets... Be careful, because at one point you won't even realize how tangled in the lie's web you've gotten before it's too late.
