Daily Quote

“We will chase perfection and somewhere along the way we will achieve excellence.”
- Vince Lombardi
We can always chase perfection. It's something we all do. We chase it thinking that we will catch it one day, but the truth is, you will never catch it. Just like chasing a rainbow. There's no pot of gold at the end because there really isn't an end. You can chase it all you want and you won't get to the end of it. But while you chase it, you will get better and better and better until you achieve excellence. You won't be perfect, because only God is perfect, but you can achieve excellence as long as you just keep chasing. So basically, you can chase, but you will never get to the end. That doesn't mean don't chase, because when you do chase, you will achieve excellence along the way. So chase your dreams, and you never know what might come out of them!

"The love that lasts longest is the love that is never returned."
-W. Somerset Maugham
Sometimes, not receiving appreciation is better than receiving appreciation. When you do something good, its nice for people to notice. It makes you feel good about yourself. But there are some acts of love that are so strong that they should be quieter. Love that lasts you the longest is the love that people don't bother to return to you, especially if they either don't know it was you or just don't think that it was you. I know this might sound crazy, but the subtle everyday acts that nobody notices are special for you to be doing are the most special ones. Like doing someone's small household chore for them, without them even noticing. Or perhaps helping someone out with something without them asking you to (if they're the type of person that would let you do that). There are so many small acts that might seem everyday to the people you're doing them for, so the first thought that comes to their minds likely won't be that you just did something super nice for them and they need to thank you immediately. But you know you did it and you feel the love just from making someone else feel loved... Whether they know it or not. This type of love lasts a whole lot longer than the type that people notice and swoon over until you start to regret even doing it. Actually that's not true. You will just wish that they would stop. A little bit of praise is always good, but excess becomes uncomfortable. But seriously, the love that makes you feel love for the longest are the things where the love isn't necessarily returned.

Quote of the day

"It's fine to celebrate success but it is more important to heed the lessons of failure."
-Bill Gates
Celebrating success is good. It's healthy to reward yourself, even slightly, for something you've done well. But it is even more important to look at what you have done wrong and learn from it. The most valuable lessons are learned from whatever you didn't do the first time. If you fail at something, you can learn from what you did wrong so that you can get it right the next time. That's the beauty of failure. It might hurt to fail, but if you learn from your failure, in the long run, your failure won't be as awful. So go ahead and celebrate your success. But when you fail at something, and it will happen because nobody's perfect, learn from your mistakes and your mistakes will help you in the future.

Story of the day

One afternoon, a wealthy man was waiting for the train in a railway station in south India. A poor boy in torn clothes approached him and begged for some money. He said he was very hungry and did not get anything to eat on that day. Seeing his pitiable state, the man bought a packet of lunch from a stall and gave it to the boy. The boy thanked him and sat on a seat. He opened the packet and started to eat in a hurry. The man was sure that the boy was really hungry and turned to the pages of a book he was reading.

Suddenly he noticed that the boy had abruptly stopped eating and was packing the rest of the meal in a hurry. The man assumed that the boy was preparing to throw away the rest of the meal into the waste bin. He rose from his seat and angrily asked the boy why he was not eating the full meal. The boy was in tears. He told the man that he just remembered his younger sister who had nothing to eat on that day. In his exhaustion, he had started the meal forgetting her fate and was sorry for that. He ran with the packet to his home to share his meal with his hungry sister.

Mother Teresa once said about her unforgettable experience in a poor family in Calcutta. One day she learned that a poor Hindu family with several children was starving for several days. She rushed to the family, carrying in her hands a bag of rice for the family. The mother of the family thankfully received the bag of rice. The starving woman then divided the rice in the bag into two halves and went out with one half of the rice.

When she returned, Mother Teresa asked her where she had gone. The woman replied that she went to give a share of the rice to a neighbouring Muslim family which was in a similar state of poverty and starvation. Mother Teresa was touched by the love and compassion of the poor lady which made her share her meagre assets with her starving neighbours. She was happy to see them enjoy the joy of sharing.

Daily Quote

I know I frequently tell you not to be someone else, and to be yourself. But this is for those of us who continue to pretend to be something else. This includes me. Sometimes I don't be myself because I want to fit in or some way or another. Anyway, when you're pretending to be something or someone, you might not be exactly like the person or thing you're acting like, but you can get close in terms of actions and words and phrases and things like that. And they can become habits! So be really careful what you pretend to be, because if you often pretend to be something you know is bad but you want to fit in, you might start acting like that even when you don't want to. Another example would be if you were jokingly acting like something because you don't like it so you do it to mock it, you should also be careful because I was always told that one day it will become habit and you will go around acting exactly like whatever you don't particularly like. Of course, this could also happen with good things you act like, but the best thing to act like is yourself.

"Don't ever doubt yourselves or waste a second of your life. It's too short, and you're too special."
-Ariana Grande
You are so special and unique that if you are doubting yourself, you are wasting your unique time. Earlier today, for a minute or two, I began to doubt myself. I questioned the parts of me that I can't change no matter how much I sometimes want to, and then I stopped and realized that there's nothing I can do about those things. I realized that, if God didn't want us to be here, he wouldn't have made us! Each and every one of us is special, unique, and put here for a purpose. Everyone has a purpose, big or small. Also, you can look up the probabilities of you being alive and the numbers are incredible. Some say your existence is one in 400 trillion, some say you are one in 400 quadrillion, some just say some absolutely crazy numbers. So basically the chances of you being alive are 0. Not to mention that there's only ONE of you in the entire world, and you are the only one who can be you and do the things you do the way you do them, and you're the only one who can look exactly like you and be you while actually being yourself. Don't doubt yourself. Just look in the mirror! God made you because it was you he wanted. No matter how flawed you are, you're alive for a reason. So don't ever doubt yourself or waste a second of your life, because our lives are too short and we're all so special.

Quote of the day

"Don't judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds that you plant."
-Robert Louis Stevenson
Don't judge your day based on how much you got out of it. Sure, that's a great thing to judge it on, but there are more important things to think about. Think more about how much you've set up for later. What did you do today that, after a bit of time and TLC, will blossom into something you can harvest in great quantities later? That brings us back to the harvest concept. Harvesting is great. It makes you feel great about yourself and all of your work, it makes you feel ready to plant more seeds so you can harvest more, and it makes you feel accomplished and full of pride. Harvest is great. But seeds that you plant are even greater, because you can let someone else harvest those seeds once they're fully grown, or you can plant them somewhere where they would grow best. Before you plant them, they're yours to decide where they will be planted. Pick a good spot and go ahead and plant! In the long run, you will see what kinds of results can come out of planting your seeds in the right people, foundations, and places.

Quote of the day

Goals are great. They give you some basic structure to build a great house. There's only one problem: goals are easy to forget about unless you really mean it. Many times I've made a goal and then worked on it for a few days, and then gave it up. It seems to happen like that quite often. But that's where discipline comes in. If you are never disciplined enough to stick to it and keep doing it until it's accomplished, you're never going to complete your goal. That's why discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment. Anyone can make a goal. Some are better than others, but everyone can make them. Some are forced by someone else-- for example, sometimes we are forced to make goals just because it's a good group activity for individuals. Sometimes, though, we make extravagant personal goals that are almost impossible to reach. These often have to do with trying to correct our imperfections that we are the most insecure about. Other goals are more realistic and accomplishable, but we drop them quickly. There are more types of goals then those, like the one that is realistic and accomplishable and exciting or grabbing enough to make you complete it, but these are the basics. None of them are impossible. You just have to be disciplined enough to make it routine until the goal is accomplished. Many goals require that you keep working as if working towards the goal, even when the goal is accomplished. But if there's one thing about goals I've learned, it takes a high level of discipline to get up and act on the goals that we just sat down and wrote.

Daily Quote

Being alive is a gift. You've probably heard that quite a few times. But it's true! The privilege of a lifetime is being who you are. Everyone succumbs to peer pressure at one point, and everyone tries to be the person they admire the most. That's just how we are wired as humans. But the privilege of a lifetime is being able to live it in the way you want to! It's your life, nobody can control it. Being yourself can be hard, but trust me-- it's worth it to not have to constantly worry if you're being the other person correctly. Let them be them and let yourself be you. That's why we get a lifetime to ourselves, so that we can perfect being our imperfect selves.

Daily Quote

If you fall on your face, you are still moving forward. Every obstacle is simply a crossroad that will allow you to choose a new path. Sometimes you fall, and that's ok. You're still moving forward, you will always be moving forward. Just keep going, you can do it! Life can get hard. Life can present challenges. But no matter how painful, no matter how difficult, you must keep going; even if it means falling on your face a few times. Many things in life are truly challenging. They push and stretch you past your comfort zone, and they test your limits. They make you tired and they make you feel weak-- they make you fall on your face sometimes. But as long as you get up and keep pushing, you will only get stronger. Just keep moving forward. Believe in yourself and you're halfway there.

Quote of the day

Did you ever notice that it seems like, just as you give up, you realize how close you were? This happens quite often. Many people, including me of course, get discouraged and give up on something, just to figure out how extremely close they actually were to their goal. So never give up! It might be painful, it might hurt. It might be taking forever, which is why you've probably lost hope. There are so many reasons to give up, but more reasons to keep going. Think of the benefits of completing whatever it is you are completing. I don't know what types of things you might be considering giving up on, but think: what would happen if you went through with it to the end? Just think about that. I have a personal story to share. Once when I was younger, maybe around 2nd or 3rd grade, my dad and I ran a 5k race, just for fun. Running, to me, is something that is bittersweet. I enjoy all of the benefits of running-- the amazing feeling of accomplishment when you finish, the feeling of being active, the positiveness it gives you for the rest of the day. Although, I don't like the actual running itself very much. But back then I just ran because I had to. I didn't actually like it at all. But anyway, my dad and I were running this 5k, and I started hyperventilating and complaining about how I didn't think I could do it and I wanted to stop. My dad and I had a rule where we could go slow, but we weren't allowed to stop running until it was over. So I was freaking out, and he finally just said that "you know what, go ahead and stop. Whatever." Well, probably not exactly those words. But he told me to stop and he seemed frustrated. Then he told me that we only had about 0.1 mile left. So I didn't stop. Both of us pushed through and we made it through the finish line. If it weren't for my dad, I would have given up without even realizing how close I was to finishing. So I'm going to leave you with this: never give up, because often times the moment you are giving up is the moment that you are the closest to your goal, and everything changes and becomes clear. So keep pushing. It's worth it.

Quote of the day

"There are two ways of spreading light: to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it."
-Edith Wharton
There are two ways to spread light feelings. Be the source, or be one to help it bounce around to someone else. Both are good! Sometimes being the source of something can be a really good thing, because you can spread the light as much as you want until you run out. Mirrors are really good, too, because they just allow the light to hit them and continue to keep spreading around everyone. Although, perhaps this could also mean something quite different. Maybe it means that the mirror is only bouncing the light off of it and not keeping any of it for itself. Maybe it is saying that the mirror just wants nothing to do with the light so it just bounces it straight off. I suppose it's all in how you think of it. The way I think of it is assuming the mirror that reflects it is also taking a little bit of it in for themselves, and then helping by continuing to spread the light to everyone else. You don't always have to be the source, but if someone is making you happy, turn around and make someone else happy, too!

Daily Story

The Book of Genesis in the Holy Bible depicts the story of the ‘Great Flood’ by which God wiped out the wicked people from the earth. He was pleased with Noah and so He decided to save him and his family from the flood. God ordered him to build an ark, a large wooden boat with ample rooms to accommodate and maintain representatives of every species of terrestrial animals and birds. Noah worked with his wife, his three sons- Shem, Ham and Japheth and their wives and constructed the huge ark. Then, following the directions of God, Noah and his sons brought pairs of all animals near the ark and marched them into the ark.

In a humorous legend, which is entirely fictitious, a stubborn donkey refused to enter the ark. Noah and his sons had to drag the adamant animal into the ark, overcoming his stupid resistance. In one version of the legend, Ham, a son of Noah furiously shouted to the donkey, “Oh, you devil, come into the ark” while pulling him with all his might.

The Devil, who was awaiting an invitation to enter the ark accepted these impulsive words as an invitation and readily entered the ark. Though the story is entirely fictitious, the Bible states that Ham later came under the influence of the Devil and was tempted to treat his father Noah with disrespect. This evil act led to a historic curse. Noah cursed Ham that his descendants would become the slaves of his brothers’ descendants.

Harsh words, uttered impulsively can have disastrous consequences. Unkind words may cause deep wounds in the minds of those who hear them but wisely spoken words can heal.
Let us learn to be quick to listen, but slow to speak and slow to become angry. Let us be kind and tender-hearted to one another, and forgive one another.

Daily Quote

"The only job in which you start at the top is digging a hole."
-Trigger Bill
There is no job where you are automatically at the top. You've got to work up to it. Even if you are an entrepreneur and will be the top of your new company, you will still have to work up to getting the company started. It will start from nothing, which is the bottom of the pyramid. The quote is kind of funny, because it's saying that the only job that you can start straight from the top is digging a hole. Of course this quote is saying that using a literal example. Sure, starting at the top and working your way downwards in anything is, in fact, starting at the top. But the real point of the quote is to say that don't try to jump straight to the top. You've got to learn and work and learn more and work some more in order to get upwards. If you've never done something before, you can't just try it the first time and be an absolute master. That's just not how it works. To get to the top of anything, you've got to work up to whatever it is, whether it be jobs, skills, etc. I'm going to pick on myself here for a minute. I'm a perfect example of imperfection, especially in the case of this quote. I tend to enjoy rushing into things. I hate sitting through learning sessions or watching the long tutorial videos. I just want a brief overview and then I want to jump right in. I'm a hands-on learner, so I don't sit still through lengthy instructions. I just want to get started as soon as possible! Some things I'm more willing to read the instructions carefully then others, but on the whole, I tend to jump into it and try to learn as I go. Actually, I do like instructions. As long as I'm getting them as I actually do what I'm learning. So if you wanted me to learn to do something, you would have to teach me each step as I do the specific step. That's just how I learn. But I do realize that we can't start from the top. And that's a good thing, because otherwise I might jump straight into something and not understand why I can't do it! This, I feel, is something important to remember. You can't start from the top. There will always be many levels you must dominate before you can reach the top of your pyramid.

Quote of the day

"Dream big dreams . . . then put on your overalls."
-Trigger Bill
This is a nice country take on the traditional quotes about how when you dream, you have to get up and do something to make it reality. Dream big. Let your imagination run wild! Think up the craziest, most unique thing you possibly can. And then go put on your overalls. Unless you are a farmer or your work clothing is actually overalls, then "putting on your overalls" just means get yourself ready to go do some dirty work. Once your overalls are on, go ahead and make those dreams come true! Seeing people dream big dreams and try to make them reality is something special. A couple years ago, I saw a young girl working really hard towards a special award. She was actually attempting something that isn't usually done, and she was trying to get two major awards at the same time. She worked really hard. At every opportunity she possibly had, she was studying the information that she needed to know, she was completing requirements, and she was keeping an incredibly stress-free positive and cheerful attitude. She was such an inspiration to me. Just watching her do her thing made me realize that, no matter how big or crazy your dream is, if you put on your overalls and get to work, you just might make it come true. The best part about this was the fact that she succeeded and received both awards as if it was no problem at all. Dreams really can come true. Just get to it and believe, put on your work clothes, roll up your sleeves, and get your hands dirty. You can accomplish amazing things.

Quote of the day

"Things turn out for the best for those who make the best of the way things turn out."
-Unknown
If you make the best of the way life goes, you will get the best results. So if your life isn't the best thing in the world but you make the best of it, things are likely to turn out better for you. If you don't make the best out of whatever happens but you have a great life, sure, your life will continue to be good, but since you aren't making the best of it you are wasting some of it away which is why it won't end up turning out the best. This is true for anything. If you just let life take you on a roller coaster, make the best of it by enjoying it. When it lets you choose to turn right or left, make the best of the situation and do what you think will benefit you, and, what you actually want to do. Things turn out best for the people who can make the best out of however things just end up turning out.

"I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free."
-Michelangelo
I've always thought this is a clever way of an artist describing his motivations for carving. I can just imagine this: an angel trapped in a block of marble, until an artist comes and carves to perfectly shave off all of the marble around the angel's figure until there is no more marble-- just an angel set free. The angel doesn't even have to mean an actual angel, it could be a carving of just about anything else. The angel could be a shoe, for all the artist cares. Applying this to our lives, we can think that the goal is stuck in a block of marble or something like that. We can't just touch the block and wait for the form to simply appear, perfectly carved, out of the big block of troubles and hardships. The block has to be carved away little by little, solving the problems and difficulties along the way. But once you get to the angel in the middle and set it free, the angel will always be there, leaving behind a new block of marble to begin carving so that you can carve out a new hope, dream, or goal of some sort.

"The most powerful weapon on earth is the human soul on fire."
-Ferdinand Foch
Passion: something so strong that it can't be broken with a chainsaw. Passion is exactly what the quote says-- a human soul on fire. And it truly can be the most powerful weapon on earth! If you are passionate about something, and I know I've posted about this before, you will be more likely to do something better and for longer if you are passionate about it. Passion can be applied for good things as well as bad, but let's not focus on the bad things. The good things you can do is argue for a cause, make something for someone, or simply just do well in the topic you are passionate about in all aspects of your life that include it. If you are in a meeting or something where someone gives a speech or is debating something, their argument is so much more believable if they are passionate about it. If they aren't, you don't want to join their cause, do you? But if they are passionate, there's almost nothing that can stop them. And that's pretty powerful. Many things in our human lives are so delicate and will break if someone does something to break them. Even the strongest people have weak points. But passion is different. Arguing against your passions will only make them stronger! If you are truly passionate about it, you will fight back! It's not like it's insulting you or anything, and if it is, it's different in the sense that you likely won't be offended in the way that makes you want to go cry. You will be offended in the way that makes you want to get up and tell them why you think you are right. Passion truly is something wonderful and strong. It's one of our most powerful weapons that we have!

Quote of the day

One person can't directly help every single person in the entire world. It's just not possible. But everyone can help one person. That is possible for sure! That's what many organizations do. They have a group of people that all work together to help individuals who need help. When we work together, we can get so much done, so why not work together to help individuals? Besides, helping an individual makes them feel like they truly are unique and special and worth it. Helping a larger group is great, too, but doesn't quite give the same effect. We can't help everyone, but everyone can help someone!

Quote of the day

You've heard of the quote "you never know unless you try." It's true! You can watch all the tutorial videos and read all of the step-by-steps and watch people do it as often as you want, but you will never know what it's really like until you try. You will never truly know how to do something until you have done it for yourself. So that's why you should get out and do something new and exciting that you've never done before! Do something good. Something good for you, something good for someone else, something good for someplace else. Do something that you don't think you can do, just so you can learn how to do it for the future. Explore! Let your imagination run wild. And by doing these things, you are learning something new.

"Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see."
-Mark Twain
Kindness is something that everyone can understand. It's something wonderful and amazing that deaf people can hear and blind people can see. Even if it isn't literally hearable or visual. Kindness is something you can feel in the deepest part of your heart. It spreads starting in your heart to the rest of your body, giving you those tingly feelings that you feel when you're happy. This is what the quote is saying. If you are nice to a blind person, they will feel as if they can see. If you are nice to a deaf person, they will feel like they can hear. Happiness is special like that. So go ahead and be happy to everyone you meet! It also has affects on you, too, so be nice to everyone and you will get some results for yourself, too!

If good doesn't stand up to evil, then the evil will get away with it. The only power that can stop evil is good, so if good decides to take a nap, evil will triumph. And we don't want that, do we? Imagine what would happen. It would be awful! So be sure to be the good guy. Don't sleep on the job, and stand up for what you believe. The only reason evil would ever win is if good decided it wasn't going to do anything.

Quote of the day

"Yesterday is not ours to recover, but tomorrow is ours to win or lose."
-Lyndon B. Johnson
There's nothing we can do about what happened yesterday. There's no way to go back and fix anything we wish we could have done differently. That's why we have to be so careful with our time. You can only spend it once, so be sure to spend it on whatever you believe would best benefit you. On the other hand, tomorrow is ours to win or lose. Tomorrow hasn't happened yet, so you can change it up any way you want. Tomorrow might be the day you get so much done because you wanted to, or maybe it's the day you are going to do absolutely nothing on. Either way, tomorrow is unwritten. It's ours to write. But once we read our writing, there's no going back.

Quote of the day

Busy life seems to be forever the struggle to get things done, and get them done by the time they need to be done by. So basically, life seems to be work, work, work, with no stopping. There are the occasional breaks to catch your breath, but even then, those are pretty busy. At every possible moment we get, we use it to do what still needs to be done that we didn't get done during the time it was supposed to be done. This is what the quote is saying: we can only see how much we need to do. We will always stress about the future, because it's unpredictable and we don't like how we can't change it in the ways we want to change it. I know that, at least to me, when I get something done, I don't spend time sitting there and thinking what a wonderful thing it is that it's done and I don't have to do it anymore. I keep pushing forwards-- I keep working on what remains to be done until it too is done. But by the time that is done, there is more scooped up and plopped onto our plates in nauseatingly vast amounts. It's so hard to notice what's done when there's so much to do! But perhaps it's a good thing that we don't look back on the past. Perhaps it is a good thing that we keep pushing forwards to get it done. I would suggest, though, taking five minutes at the end of each day (or the time when you are in bed but not falling asleep works too, if you are ever in bed and not simply knocked out) to go over what you've done. Sometimes reflecting back on all you've accomplished gives you hope and confidence so you can approach what is to come with a strong, proud stride.

Daily Quote

I feel like I've done this quote before. Either way, it's a great one. Everyone is always trying to be who they want to be. Everyone is trying to be perfect. Some people are more confident in their uniqueness than others, but some people shrink back and try to be exactly like the people they observe. For example, If someone loved the way someone always does a hand motion when they say something in a funny voice, and tried to make that "their thing" also, they're trying to be that other person! I'm not saying this is bad if you do it once or twice. We are people and we share our ideas with everyone wether we like it or not. But there are some things that people just need to figure out for themselves versus relying on others to come up with something that they can do. Everyone's unique! Embrace the uniqueness, and don't try to mask it! It's there so that you can contribute something completely different to the world than everyone else. You are unique! So is everyone else! So in that way, we are all the same. But we are all so very completely different. Don't ever deny yourself your uniqueness.

When you are really great friends with someone, you notice that you are so similar. Of course, friendships are usually made on similarities, but even when you first meet you are not exactly the most similar things. But then, after being friends for a while, your similarities and differences seem to almost completely balance out. Then, it feels like you could be one mind in two bodies. When you get this feeling, you know that your friendship is true.

Story of the day

A rabbit and two ducks were intimate friends. They used to meet on the bank of a river and have detailed discussions. One day the ducks told the rabbit that they had found a carrot farm on the other bank of the river. The rabbit was excited and sought the help of his friends to cross the river, reach the farm and relish the carrots. The ducks agreed to carry him across the river.

They devised an ingenious plan to cross the river. The two ducks entered the river and stayed close to each other. The rabbit carefully mounted on their back and stayed still, placing his forelimbs on one duck and his hind limbs on the other duck. Then the ducks slowly swam across the river, staying close to each other. The rabbit cautiously balanced his body on top of the moving birds.

As they reached the centre of the river, the ducks saw a large number of fishes swimming together. In the excitement of finding a delicious meal in the shoal, the ducks quickly swam to either side to catch the prey. They forgot about the poor rabbit who fell down into the deep river as the ducks moved away. The ducks remembered their mission only after they finished their feast. But, by that time the rabbit had drowned. The foolish ducks were sorry to miss their dearest friend. They cursed their crazy craving for food.

Quote of the day

Alone we are weak, together we are strong. We were all taught that working together is a great thing that we should all learn to do, and that together we can get the job done. It's true! It's so much easier to do things together than it is to do them alone. Working alone you can get the job done, but it will take longer and all the effort is placed onto your back. But with a group or team, the work can be divided up so that everyone does a smaller piece of it. Or, if you can't do that, everyone can contribute ideas to one section at a time so that everyone is working on the same thing together. Even this way it goes fast. But alone we can't do everything. There are some thing that can ONLY be done with other people, so it is important to learn to work in groups. I've never been that great at working in groups, but working in groups made the projects we worked on so much easier. Well, if everyone does there share! Sometimes people don't do their share and that is extremely annoying. But good groups I've been in have made me more open to the idea of teamwork, and now working in teams isn't so hard anymore. Alone we can't do as much, but working together we can open up a whole new world of opportunities.

Daily Quote

"We can learn something new anytime we believe we can."
-Virginia Satir
If you believe that you can learn and grow from learning, then you can. If you don't believe that you can, or worse, believe that you can't, you will end up tricking your mind into thinking that it can't learn. And then you won't learn! And where will you go if you can't learn? Learning is growing. Mentally. So if you stop learning, you stop growing mentally. And just because you might not be in school anymore doesn't mean you aren't learning! Just believe that you can, and learning will be so much easier and way more effective.

Daily Quote

"Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it."
-William Arthur Ward
If you are grateful for something, express it! Let the person you are grateful for what they did or what they gave you (in any form-- love, gifts, their presence and life, etc) know that you're grateful. If you are grateful but don't express it in any way, that defeats the purpose! If you are feeling gratitude, express it. Feeling it is half of what it's all about. Expressing that you feel it is the other half. Feeling it but not expressing it would be like wrapping a present and not giving it. Or preparing a meal but not serving it. Or buying something and never using it. Gratitude, like many things, is a two-part battle. Half of it is feeling it, and the other half is expressing it. Just like in giving gifts, half of it is wrapping it, and the other half is giving it.

Quote of the day

"A truly strong person does not need the approval of others any more than a lion needs the approval of sheep."
-Vernon Howard
Strong people don't have people constantly telling them that what they are doing is right and good. Even if they know what they are doing is not right or good, they choose for themselves whether to do it or not. Strong people don't really need people to approve every single thing that they do. They still look up to people for approval on some things, but not every little thing. Think of it this way: have you ever seen a lion asking a sheep for the sheep's approval?
